Let Your Personal Home Style Shine
Here’s something I’ve come to believe: if you style something like you mean it, you can make just about anything look like intentional good style. With this in mind, it’s simple to create your personal home style. Simple—but not always easy.
Say you find a piece of art you love. It doesn’t exactly match the sofa—but it doesn’t clash either—so you hang it up anyway, with confidence. That’s a style.
Or maybe you’re wearing shoes that don’t technically go with your outfit. But you love them. You walk out the door like you bought them just for that outfit? That’s a style.
When it comes to personal style—especially in your home—it’s not about playing it safe or getting it “right”. The best spaces don’t look like a showroom. They tell stories. They wear their personality like your favorite cozy patterned shirt found on the perfect vacation.
Need help defining your personal style? I created a free Canva Style Guide Template to help you move from inspiration overwhelm to clarity. It includes space to collect your favorite colors, patterns, and textures—plus guided journaling prompts to uncover the feeling you want your home to evoke. Whether you’re planning to wallpaper a room or simply want a clearer sense of your style, this template is the perfect place to start. Click here to grab it and start exploring your style.

And the most memorable homes? They reflect someone who’s confident in their choices and committed to creating a space that feels beautifully lived in.
If style were a Venn diagram, the sweet spot would be right where comfort, expression, and fun overlap. A space should feel just as good as it looks. It should invite you in with a carefree hug, keep your unique interests at the heart of the design, and—if you’re lucky—surprise you with little moments that make you smile.
And if you’re anything like me and adore bold florals? Pattern is the icing on the cake.
How Does This Kind of Style Happen?
Is a confident, expressive personal home style something you plan out? Or does it come together naturally?
The truth? It can be either. But confidence always helps the process happen faster and more naturally.
Because confidence is the real luxury.
Luxury isn’t about perfection or pristine surfaces. It’s about a home that feels curated and unapologetically you.
And if the word curated sounds a little too fancy—like something reserved for museum exhibits or high-end designers—I want to change your mind. You can be your own curator.
Curating your space simply means choosing things that feel right. It’s the decision to go for the oversized floral wallpaper that turns your hallway into a work of art—even if no one in your entire list of acquaintances has done so. It’s mixing textures and patterns not because a magazine (or Pinterest) told you to, but because you love how they look together.

Confidence is what turns a house into a home that feels warm, interesting, and personal.
If you’re not sure where to start, try this: close the Pinterest tab for now. Step into your own space with fresh eyes. Sit in a corner you usually overlook and look at your living room from a new angle. What would you change if you weren’t worried about what anyone else might say?
What would you do that would make you walk into the room for no reason other than to enjoy the view? If you need a few journaling prompts to help you determine your style, you can find several in my Style Guide Template here!
Pattern Lovers, This Is Your Moment
Neutrals have been the default decor choice for years—and it’s understandable! There’s nothing wrong with a calm, neutral room. But it only really works when there’s depth: a layering of textures, tones, and materials that add richness and warmth.
But lately? Pattern is having a moment. And I couldn’t be more thrilled. I am a pattern designer, afterall!
And as a designer, I especially bold, oversized florals—they bring life to a space in a way that still feels refined. Think: hand-painted blooms, dramatic contrasts, and unexpected moments of floral joy tucked into everyday corners.
Used with intention, florals can lift a room’s mood, spark a conversation, or simply make you smile every time you walk by.
Try this today: A great place to start is to add a patterned pillow to your sofa!

Design with Patterns and Heart
A bold floral in your powder room. A stack of pillows on the sofa that make a statement (even if they usually end up on the floor). A gallery wall that reflects your travels, your family and your taste. Not just decor choices—they’re characters in your story.
When you think of decorating as not just to filling a space, but creating an environment that reflects your story, your home dares to feel like you. A home that feels joyful. Comforting. Full of color, curiosity, and creativity – or whatever suits you best.
Embracing Your Personal Home Style
You might start with a single room a refresh or dream bigger with a whole-home transformation, but remember this:
Great style doesn’t come from following the rules—it comes from trusting yourself. And if you’re still learning to trust yourself, that’s okay. Invite a friend into the process—someone who knows your heart, can hear your ideas, and reflect your style back to you with fresh eyes.
I’ve also got a style quiz that will help you define your style and start making choices that reflect your style goals. You can take the quiz here!
Let your home become a reflection of everything that makes you feel good: comfort, expression, and fun woven together to create a style that’s completely your own.
Because good design isn’t about playing by the rules.
It’s about rewriting them—confidently, beautifully, and with joy.
